Mike Gill, 56, of Northwest D.C. died on Saturday, days after he was shot while sitting inside of his parked vehicle, according to a Sunday news release from D.C. police. Friends and family announced Gill’s death on Saturday night. Gill served on D.C.’s Board of Elections as well as the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission during former President Donald Trump’s administration. The January shooting at at 9th and K streets Northwest that eventually claimed Gill’s life was the first in a violent rampage that also left another person dead.

2nd Murder Suspect Arrested!
A second D.C. teenager has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting of 10-year-old Arianna Davis that happened on Mother’s Day last year. D.C. police said 19-year-old Dallas McKinney, of Southeast, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder while armed. On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at approximately 7:34 p.m., the suspect swerved their car in front of the victim’s car causing him to stop in the 400 block of K Street NW, Mount Vernon Triangle neighborhood. The suspect exited the vehicle and approached the victim who was still seated in their vehicle. After the victim rolled down their window, the suspect snatched the victim’s phone and assaulted him. The suspect then made the victim get into the passenger seat and the suspect drove the victim to an ATM to withdraw money. The suspect then drove the victim to an unknown location and dropped him off. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. Click badge for updates to this incident.

4 Shot : 2 Dead
On Thursday, December 21, 2023, at approximately 11:49 a.m., Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 1300 block of Half Street Southwest. Upon arrival, they located three men and a woman with gunshot wounds. The woman died at the scene and after all life-saving efforts failed, one man died at the hospital. The other victims were treated at local hospitals.
The decedents have been identified as 35-year-old Patricia Harris and 24-year-old Tyrone Jacobs, both of Southwest, DC.

Biker crashes 2021 HD Trike: DOA
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality that killed a man in Southeast, Washington, DC.
The preliminary investigation revealed that on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at approximately 1:04 a.m., a man was operating a 2021 Harley Davidson Trike southbound on I-295 S at exit 1C, Martin Luther King Junior Avenue/ 11th Street, SE. While on the ramp the motorcycle struck the guard rail and the operator was ejected.
Multiple Shootings Plague DC:
It was another violent night around the District as police responded to five shootings from Saturday evening into Sunday morning.
Officers responded to shootings in the following areas:
- 4000 block of Georgia Avenue, NW: Police received a call at 9:32 p.m. for a shooting. A man suffering from gunshot wounds was located at a local hospital. He was conscious and breathing and being treated for serious injuries.
- 1400 block of M Street, NW at Thomas Circle: Police received a call at 11:58 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
- 2500 block of Georgia Avenue, NW: Police received a call at approximately 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival, police located a teenager suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
- 100 block of Wayne Place, SE: Police received a call at 12:58 a.m. for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a graze wound. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
- 4000 block of 13th Street, SE: Police received a call at 3:48 a.m. for a shooting. Upon arrival, a woman was located suffering from gunshot wounds. Police said she was pronounced dead.
